Keeping healthy is hard work. I promise you, abs look great. Biceps even look better. But, the trouble that men and even women go through to look good and be healthy in general is like a dare from hell. Especially if you have started and stopped.
I have become the professor of start and stop. Literally. I get all hyped up, go out there and get my jog on. Then results start to show and I tone down a bit, eventually I stop. I stop only to pick it up again at some point.
As you can imagine; I’m back to jogging. I tell you it’s no child’s play. My body is back at square 1. Last week my legs were finally willing to go the distance and my chest just stood the looking shocked when I had to go to just a mere 3 km. It is at this point that I realized that the going is tough. But as the old saying goes, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” I’m hanging in there. I’m now taking my small bottle of water with me once again because once again, I’m a beginner at running. I promised myself that this year I’m running 1 trail run. I’m going to take just 5 km to get the blood going. If it brings the desired effect, I’ll be running the comrades marathon before I’m 60.
The lesson I’m learning from this experience is an old one really. But, it doesn’t hurt to re-learn things every once in a while. I’m learning that no matter how hard or tough it seems, there is a way. If you are willing to persevere, you will achieve your goals.
This time I want it all. No looking back. No stopping. I know what giving up feels like, now I want to know what it will feel like if don’t give up.
